Glenwood changes name to Glenwood Healthcare, Inc., to reflect variety of services
In early December of 1976, Glenwood Convalescent Center opened its doors to provide a caring atmosphere for those requiring long term nursing care. Today, almost 33 years later, the company has grown to specialize in adult inpatient rehab and now includes assisted living facilities and long-term care. A leading member in the Shoals business community, Glenwood currently employs more than 200 people in the area.
The company has recently changed its name to Glenwood Healthcare, Inc., to more adequately describe the full scope of services provided by its facilities. “Our 35-bed rehab division, now called The Grove at Glenwood, can help those who need special care and therapy as they recover from joint replacement, stroke, or other surgeries,” said Glen M. Jones, Administrator. “We select the best healthcare personnel in the area to manage our rehabilitation program, and in our company’s history we’ve helped thousands of Shoals area residents literally get back on their feet again. Our assisted living facility, now called The Hilltop at Glenwood, has large private rooms for 32 residents in a warm and caring atmosphere. It’s so satisfying to help our residents at the Hilltop stay active and maintain their independence for many years. Our long-term care facility, now called The Meadows at Glenwood, serves 90 people who need varying levels of nursing care. We are proud to have been awarded a 5-star rating by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services for our quality care, but we consistently strive to earn this distinction with every patient, every day.”
The move to a new corporate name, Glenwood Healthcare, Inc., “reflects the total caring approach of our three divisions,” said Jones. “We provide a continuum of care that few can offer; we work in tandem with a variety of professionals to create a personal care plan for each patient; and we work daily to be the Shoals’ premier provider of healthcare services. We know that for our residents this is their home, and for our rehab patients this is their way back home.”
